In 2015, the Carolinas District introduced the Coaching Corps, making coaches available to all chapters in the district who wanted to have a qualified coach come to their weekly rehearsal.
During calendar year 2016 nine (9) choruses took advantage of that opportunity. This represents about 38% of the chapters in the Carolina District.
Three or four other chapters expressed interest but were unable to create an opportunity in their weekly schedule to host a coaching visit. A couple of other chapters make their own arrangements for coaching.
In addition, seven (7) choruses were coached during the fall festival in Asheville, 2016.
For quartets, we have held three clinics (two (2) in the fall of 2015 and one (1) in the spring of 2016) that were attended by fourteen (14) quartets.
At the 2016 fall festival in Asheville, fifteen (15) quartets were coached.
The feedback from those ensembles about their coaching experiences has been overwhelmingly positive!!!! Each ensemble reported satisfaction with their experience and a willingness and desire to continue to pursue this strategy to improve their public and contest performance.
The Carolinas District wants to support any and all efforts that will pursue improvement of their performance level – be it for community performances or for the contest stage.
Nicholas DiLorenzo, VP of Music and Performance, will work with any group to arrange a coaching visit. You can contact him at (910-748-7633).or by calling him at home
Nick will work with you to arrange a visit by one of the members of the Carolina Coaching Corps (see below). The district wants to help your ensemble improve and will provide support and assistance so that the coach is held harmless and honored for his time and talent, while at the same time keeping the cost for the visit reasonable for your quartet/chorus.
