MIKEY MANCUSO - VP FOR YOUTH IN HARMONY

E-mail: Mike (Mikey) Mancuso, Carolinas District first VP of Youth In Harmony. Mikey will be your primary contact for all YIH matters.
Mike has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society since 1995, when he began singing LEAD with the Singing Buckeyes Chorus, of the Johnny Appleseed District, in Columbus, Ohio. Although he sang Lead for 10 years in both the Buckeyes and a few quartets, he switched to Baritone with the formation of Legal Limit quartet in 2005, and continues to enjoy singing Bari to this day. In 2007 Mike became a dual member with The Alliance of Greater Central Ohio Chorus, and has competed in the International Chorus contests many times over the years with both choruses, finishing as high as 6th place for 3 consecutive years with The Alliance before moving to South Carolina in 2010.
During his years with the Buckeyes and The Alliance, Mike was very involved with the Singing Buckeyes Harmony Camp, which has become one of the largest camps of its type in the U.S. He was instrumental in presenting quartets to high school aged singers in their schools to expose them to the barbershop style, and in promoting the Buckeye Harmony Camp. The camp grew from 15 boys in the first year, to over 300 high school aged singers for both young men and young women and continues to attract new and returning campers each year. One of Mike’s passions in barbershopping is the presentation of the hobby to young singers and to instill a love of singing that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives, whether it is as part of a Barbershop group, church choir or some other form of vocal music within their communities.
Mike worked as a Customer Service Agent for Trans World Airlines and American Airlines, retiring after 33 years in the industry. He worked for 4 more years as a Subcontract Manager, joining NetJets, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio before completely retiring and moving south. Mike resides with his wife, Ann, in Mt. Pleasant, SC, where they moved to be near their daughter, son-in-law and only grandchild. He is a founding member and the President of Palmetto Vocal Project, the newest chapter of the Carolinas District.
