Hello, my name is Paul Martin. Welcome to the third of our STATE of the DISTRICT addresses –Membership.
Last month we reviewed that it’s the music that brings us together – – but it’s the friendships that make us stay. This is the key link to membership: our bond to the music AND to each other. There is also a larger, more expansive meaning of membership — that sense of community and our part and role in the social fabric with all those around us.

Thank you for your attention as we explore the State of the District — Membership.
It is a religious tenant that ‘it is better to give than to receive’. In fact the satisfaction gained by serving others is immense and returns a thousandfold. People who EXPERIENCE what we do and who we are are changed and many want to become part of it. People who SEE what we do for others will identify us as worthy and want to become part of what we do.
So the key to maintaining and growing membership is to provide the sense of satisfaction that comes from achieving a worthy end, and is a benefit to the community.
Our next STATE of the DISTRICT address will focus on Events. This will be exceedingly timely as we will be celebrating our virtual Fall Festival on November 14, 2020 and will be introducing an exciting new virtual events platform for the upcoming Midwinter Convention. So stay tuned! Thank you!
