Carolinas District History 2011: “The First Year (and a Half)”

It happened on July 3rd, 2010. The place was the 72nd International Convention of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) held in Philadelphia, PA. It was at the beginning of the Saturday night Quartet Finals. Robert “Squeak” Tilton, Carolinas District President, joined Ed “Doc” Watson, CEO of the Barbershop Harmony Society, at center stage for the presentation of the Carolinas District Charter. It had taken several years, but the Carolinas District was now officially established, effective July 1, 2010 and the new district leadership was ready to roll.

This history covers the activities and achievements of the new Carolinas District, for the first 18 months from July 1, 2010 thru December 31, 2011. The District was chartered with 741 members and 44 registered quartets in 27 chapters across the states of North Carolina and South Carolina.
