Leadership Academy 2017 (re-scheduled for Feb 4th)

la-2017-logo

**Due to winter weather conditions projected to impact North and South Carolina (Winter Storm Helena), Leadership Academy has been cancelled for January 7th. However, we are excited to announce that February 4th has been chosen as our replacement date. We invite the 120+ registrants that previously committed to attending the January 7th event to register again for February 4th. And to those who were not able to attend in January, we hope that this new date will allow you the chance to participate. Click here to register today!**

This year’s Leadership Academy promises to be one of the best the Carolinas District has ever produced. Our faculty is comprised of two of the most talented chapter development clinicians making the rounds in the Barbershop Harmony Society today – Beverly Greene and Paul Ellinger!

It is important to note that, although Leadership Academy is traditionally geared toward the development of chapter officers specifically, everyone in your chapter (including your Director) should be encouraged to participate this year. If you are interested in growing and retaining your chapter membership, establishing long-term strategies for development, singing at a higher level, developing the bench strength of your leadership team, programming your chapter meeting agendas to attain the highest levels of productivity blended with fun, then this year’s Leadership Academy should not be missed.

Did we mention that Leadership Academy is entirely FREE OF CHARGE to you and your fellow chapter members? The only cost is $10 per person for lunch.

WHEN: Saturday, February 4th from 9am to 4pm
WHERE: Richmond Community College – Cole Auditorium (1042 W Hamlet Ave., Hamlet, NC)

OUR FACULTY

Beverly Greene is the co-founder of the Compellingly Attractive Chapter Meetings workshops, begun in 2007 with her husband, Chuck Greene. The workshops have been given in 26 states and provinces in North America, as well as at Harmony University. The workshops are designed so you experience a variety of roles, activities, and tools that when combined, provide what you need to set your chorus on a path to more exciting, attractive and productive meetings. Rather than depending totally on a director’s historic knowledge, the goal is to “Seek, develop, use and enhance the skills and talents of each member to such an extent that progress seems limitless.” The workshops are based on the principal that both members and prospective members, when considering whether to renew membership with or join any chapter-based organization, desire and look for Attractive Value Characteristics that make an organization “compellingly attractive” enough to give of their time and energies.

Beverly is also a newly initiated Leadership Facilitator with the Barbershop Harmony Society and will be introducing some of the new leadership curriculum and concepts recently developed by Antonio Lombardi’s team, BHS Manager of Chapter Leadership and Education. These topics are a combination of philosophical, strategic and operational tools to help chapter leaders be more effective in leading people.

Paul Ellinger is one of the most requested coaches in a cappella singing today. He is a perennial Harmony University Faculty member for the Barbershop Harmony Society and is the creator of the Wavebox Singing conceptual approach to singing which has gone viral with singers of all styles (and now even instrumentalists are utilizing the Wavebox approach to music). Paul is also the creator of the popular Supercharging Your Chapter outreach which helps barbershop chapters to grow in membership, to become relevant in their communities, and to sing at higher levels more quickly and more consistently.

OUR FORMAT

Your day at Leadership Academy this year will be conducted in a workshop format rather than the traditional chapter officer courses. Why? We felt that given the talents of Beverly and Paul, a lecture wouldn’t provide the hands-on experience of how it feels when a group is energized by new activities. Facilitating a hands-on workshop means that attendees will participate in the activities, and see first-hand results of the enthusiasm. You will get a feel for both the new role of the director as well as the membership. It will contain a great variety of items reinforcing the idea there is no single starting point for a chapter, and no limits to the ideas and creativity.

Help spread the word across your chapters! Leadership Academy 2017 is sure to be a paradigm-shifting, transformative event that will provide you and your fellow members with the tools you need to align your chapter’s compass towards growth. Click here to register today!
